On-site (Onpage) Optimization and Structure
Our belief is that Onpage optimization has never been more important. This also points to a paradox on the horizon; Technical onpage SEO is neglected and off-page work is worked on constantly. Although On Page has various and excellent tools for optimization, these are no longer considered a professional manual optimization replacement. Mike King wrote about the development of SEO in the article "SEO Blogpost of the Year" related to technical SEO . This article can only be found in English. It is a must read that describes new developments that have been made available recently.User Experience
The user experience will be more important than ever before in the coming years. According to us, well-functioning online stores come to the forefront as Google has made the ranking increasingly artificial. For example, it is not enough for your navigation menu to be optimized only for SEO anymore. The user should be able to see what is behind a particular menu item at a first glance. Anything you don't like in other stores (lack of information about presentation, product or delivery) can indirectly affect your ranking. On one hand, negative user feedback signals that Google evaluates through the browser. On the other hand, it demonstrates how closely affected it is by user experiences. In the meantime, optimizing the exit process, for example, increases your conversion rate.Content Marketing
Content marketing will continue to be important to any enterprise wishing to succeed. You need to be even more prominent, especially if you sell the same or similar products as your competitors. This is possible at first with content that describes your brand well. However, it is not enough to just create the content. At this point, we always remember the article on "Content Shock" which we loved and read. Here, Mark Schaefer draws a very bleak picture of the future of content marketing in 2014. Although not so bad, we can say that in 2016 and 2017, content marketing took place from the very beginning, especially in the newly established companies. If everyone worked on content marketing, this would not be a feature. In this regard, it is necessary to follow up and monitor the development. In 2016 - 2017, infographics were completely destroyed and YouTube had gained speed. Let's see what happens next?Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)
Do you still need to talk about mobile phones today? The fact that a site is built for a mobile structure is not something we call "unique" anymore, it is something that must be found in every sector. Those who do not have a well-functioning mobile website will definitely lose visibility. However, this will soon be the only index Google has, which was announced three weeks ago. But that's not all: Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) are on the rise, and Google wants to spread this for all websites as quickly as possible. Google is trying to upgrade the AMP with all its strength and is pursuing an incredible policy in this regard. Everything Google wants to advance in doesn't have to be considered good or the right decision. For example; Google+ or Authorship Markup. Although AMP is very useful for news portals, here too, complaints about the decline of advertising revenues has increased. Still, the speed of new features currently developed for AMP has been very surprising. Until a standard online store is completely based on AMP, data transfer speed and technology will probably have progressed so much that it will no longer be necessary.Panda and Penguin: No big updates anymore
Penguin has also been finally updated, and this was perhaps the last major update with partial dramatic ranking changes. Pagerank was discontinued earlier this year, although it expired a long time ago. At the same time, Panda updates are now part of the core algorithm and are regularly updated without major "downloads". Now, less and less information is being given by Google speakers about actual updates. Sometimes the effect of these can be underestimated or exaggerated.
We think that the following will come to the forefront in 2018:
» If there will be influences by Panda or Penguin, there will only be a few websites. In fact, this situation may not be noticed at all. Extensive discussions about updates will no longer happen.
» Even if Google goes on a big" witch hunt "like in early 2014, link penalties will be made behind closed doors.
» Everything will happen" fluently ", There will be more and constant ranking changes.
SEO Developments - 2018
I think there are three main trends in SEO right now:
1. Those who want to progress through link building on an ongoing basis for SEO. Individuals and agencies determine this as the only strategy, practice and sell in practice.
2. Those who progress and make more applications in the field of holistic online marketing. Here, especially "youths" are new stars, those selling through Amazon, Facebook and YouTube. SEO is still very important for this, but other channels are also very important.
3. Only those who focus on technical SEO (consulting) and only those who work here.
I think the second and third groups have a bright future in 2017, but it will be more difficult for the first group. Those who consider new channels have almost endless possibilities. It is not used much for now, but even YouTube alone is such a channel that makes most things still very easy and possible. But as an individual or agency, technical practitioners are now rarely and hopelessly researching everywhere. Big sites that see that SEO has very good returns can technically have an unlimited budget, but all other sites have to allocate more or less to maintain their existence.
Voice call (?)
We can now use my Amazon Fire TV and PlaystationVR with voice commands and we are surprised at how well this works. Amazon Echo, Google Voice Search and Siri are now used more. I am not sure that there will be a major breakthrough in this area in 2018. Even so: When we look at the Voice Search usage style, it is immediately noticeable that no commercial issues are sought.Artificial intelligence
general do Machine Learning. For example, Searchmetrics (a "small company" compared to Google) uses "content performance" as its new tool, machine learning technology built by itself. CRM systems start with artificial intelligence. Facebook, Google, Apple and Windows are now starting to stand out with these. Vertical search engines and traffic sources will become even more important now than Amazon, Youtube & others are in the SEO field. This year, guides, PDFs, blog posts and courses on "Amazon SEO" literally exploded. Strangely enough, no one talks about YouTube, even though it's the second-largest search engine older than Amazon. It should be noted that in terms of online marketing, if not in terms of SEO, alternative traffic sources will become more important than search systems in general.
For example, Pinterest is definitely a quality source of traffic for all online shops in every aspect of design. Also, Facebook ads are an absolute high quality, targeted and relatively affordable traffic source, there are still many opportunities in this area! SEO Trends: A survey among experts showed that the majority of Alamedaim's research on "SEO Trends 2017", among 39 US experts, saw the topics "mobile", "quality content" and "voice search" as the main trends.
